Iconic University of Georgia President's Mansion Hits the Market
ATHENS, GA — July 2024 — A piece of Bulldogs history is now up for grabs in Athens, as the University of Georgia’s presidential mansion has officially hit the market for the first time, with an asking price slightly over $5.1 million. This marks a historic moment, as 570 Prince Avenue, notably known as the University of Georgia's President's House, is being offered for sale for the very first time.
The University of Georgia is selling the house to reallocate the cost of annual maintenance into other areas of need. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this distinguished landmark has been meticulously maintained and updated, preserving its timeless historic charm. Nestled on approximately five acres along the tree-lined streets near downtown Athens, this iconic home has been a significant part of Athens' history and the residence of the University's presidents for over 70 years. Thousands have attended events at this historic home, which until recently, served as the University’s President’s residence.
Constructed in the 1850s, the home showcases architectural significance with period elements and meticulous craftsmanship, with many original details inside and outside the home still intact. From the famous gardens to the expansive wraparound porch, every corner of 570 Prince Avenue whispers stories of generations past, inviting new owners to become part of its enduring legacy.
The home is co-listed by Bonneau Ansley and Holly Purcell of Ansley Real Estate Christies International.
